What is MAECON?

The Massachusetts Archaeology Education Consortium (MAECON) was founded in 2012 with the goal of promoting and facilitating archaeology education throughout communities in Massachusetts. The consortium is a partnership of the Archaeological Institute of America, City of Boston Archaeology Program, the Massachusetts Historical Commission, the Museum of Science (Boston, MA), and the Robert S. Peabody Museum of Archaeology (Andover, MA).

How do I bring archaeology to my students?

There are many ways to teach archaeology year round. Take a look at these online references for ideas. There may also be opportunities to schedule visits to active excavations, archaeology labs, or even arrange for a web conference for your class with a professional archaeologist.
