Education and Essex Resources Forum
On March 26th, Lindsay Randall co-founder of MAECON attended the Education and Essex Resources Forum hosted by both the Essex National Heritage Area and the National Parks Service – Salem Maritime. Twenty-two organizations from around Essex County were represented. Examples of institutions present: Massachusetts Cultural Council, Wenham Museum, Maritime Gloucester, and Ipswich ReCreation.
The goal of the forum was to bring a variety of organizations together to discuss both successes and difficulties that each face in advancing educational initiatives and engaging with local communities. These discussions were used to create a network of educational resources and ideas that can be used to support each institution. At the end of the meeting, participants voiced their desire to continue meeting and to focus on more specific topics such as engaging English Language Learners or using digital media to engage audiences.
MAECON would like to thank Essex Heritage and NPS for facilitating this important meeting and we look forward to collaborating more with other members of the forum and creating new educational opportunities!
